Convicted for the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Fled to London, England

Ray was apprehended and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder

Thursday, April 4, 1968, 6:01 p.m. CST

Enhanced police presence - after the assassination

After the assassination, a large number of law enforcement officers searched for the alleged assassin 

Dr. King was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. CST

Doctors at St. Joseph's Hospital in Memphis pronounced Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dead
